At the heart of our community service is the mission to combat hunger by supporting local food banks and providing nourishing meals to those in need. We step in to bridge gaps during food shortages, ensuring that vulnerable individuals and families have access to essential resources.
Starting in 2018, volunteers at the foundation began to lead food collections for Bexley Foodbank. Within few years, this totalled
Foodbank Seva Project started when a volunteer spoke to the local food bank manager about their challenges and the need for warm meals. Within weeks, a pilot programme of delivering 30 meals a week was launched by two volunteers. Given the success of this trial, this was scaled to 150 meals a week within 3 months, with 20+ volunteers involved in the preparation and delivery of hot cooked meals.
Today, 40+ volunteers are involved in preparing and delivering 200–250 hot meals weekly to foodbanks in Bexley, Bromley and Orpington. These offer comfort and sustenance to those who rely on food banks. Additionally, during periods of low supply, our community comes together to donate essential items, demonstrating collective generosity and compassion.
This initiative reflects our steadfast commitment to uplifting the community and ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry.
